Sister lies about brother being fired, so her brother exposes that she secretly flunked college and spent years pretending to have a degree during big family birthday: ‘[Even] her fiancé didn't know this’

Grandpa's birthday, everyone dressed in their best pretending everything is fine energy, and the sister decides this is the perfect moment to improvise a new origin story for a firing. Suddenly, a layoff becomes showing up tipsy to work, announced at full volume in front of extended family and a brand new girlfriend. That's a precision strike wrapped in cheap wine.  

So the brother does what people always swear they will not do. He reaches for the loaded file labeled things we agreed not to talk about and opens it in the middle of dinner. Out comes the small detail about flunking out sophomore year and lying about a degree for five years. Not just to the family, but to the fiancé and his people, too. The room stops. The fiancé leaves. Her phone turns into a slot machine of consequences.  

Then the real fun begins. Parents decide his job is fair game for public shaming, while her fake diploma is suddenly sacred family business. The line is not truth versus lies. It is which secret that everyone finds convenient. 

No one is innocent in this story. One person lied, one person detonated, and the rest of the family is mad the explosion did not stay hypothetical. Looks like this family gatherings will always start as cake and nostalgia and end as unpaid group therapy with side quests in public humiliation. This one just gos there faster than usual.
